A Living Faith

Series: James: A Resilient Faith

Category: Faith

Speaker: Jeff Wyler

In this sermon from James 2:14-26, James reminds us that genuine faith is more than words, knowledge, or a profession of belief—it is a living faith that produces action. While salvation comes by grace through faith alone, true saving faith never remains alone; it reveals itself through obedience, compassion, and good works. Abraham demonstrated his faith through obedience to God, and Rahab demonstrated her faith through courageous compassion toward God's people. Their actions did not earn their salvation but proved the reality of their trust in God. In the same way, our faith should be visible in how we love, serve, and care for others. As James concludes, "faith apart from works is dead." A living faith trusts God, obeys His Word, and bears fruit that reflects a transformed life in Christ.
