When we hear “build” and “church,” we typically think of church buildings. This past Sunday, we looked at what it means to truly build the church. In 1 Corinthians 3, we were reminded that the Church is made up of people, not buildings. The mission of Jesus is to build a prevailing church on Earth through His disciples. His disciples do the faithful work of the farmer, but only Jesus can cause hearts to change and the Church to grow. The only reason we are considering building bigger buildings at Solid Rock is so that we can become a beacon of hope to this community and become a more significant launching pad for missionaries globally, sending our people out into the darkness of this world with the light of hope we have in Jesus. As a church in this community, Jesus has commissioned us to plant seeds in the lives of the people around us by investing and inviting them into a relationship with Him.
Who are some of the people whom God has used in your life to lead you to salvation and spiritual maturity? What does Jesus mean when He says that the harvest is plentiful? How is God challenging you to engage in the work He is doing to build His church in our community?
