In this sermon, we looked at Jesus' claim that He is the bread of life that comes from heaven. In John 6:41-59, we see the crowd, that had been enthusiastically following Him over the last few days, struggling to understand what Jesus was saying about Himself and what He was calling them to. Jesus reminded the crowd that He had come to give them eternal life through belief in Him. He also used bread and wine as a radical metaphor to illustrate what sincere faith in Him looks like. Jesus said that, if we eat His flesh and drink His blood, we will have eternal life in Him. He used this vivid imagery to draw a line in the sand, separating casual fans from true believers. Jesus calls us to entrust ourselves to Him, completely abandoning our own ambitions, going wherever He calls us to go, doing whatever He calls us to do, truly abiding in Him and He in us.
